Turn the Cogs
Have a go with our interactive cogs.
Cogs are the teeth around a wheel called a gear. They rotate on an axle - the axles here are magnetic, so you can move all the gears around the wall. One gear turns another - where they meet the second gear has to move in the opposite direction.
When you have a larger gear connecting to a smaller gear, when you turn the larger gear the smaller gear rotates much more quickly. If you turn the smaller gear, the larger gear rotates more slowly. If you add a third gear it will act as a brake.
Have a go, see if you can get all the gears to connect and turn!
